Police are investigating a blaze that gutted the Silver Tassie in Leven at the weekend.
The pub in Linnwood Drive had lain empty since closing over a year ago and was set to be sold at auction before it was destroyed by fire early on Saturday morning.
Fife Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at around 4am and deployed five appliances and an aerial ladder platform. They took around four hours to bring the blaze under control.
The fire service and police examined the charred remains of the building but it will have to be made safe before a full investigation can go ahead.
A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said it was too early to say whether the fire was started deliberately.
Meanwhile, a Methil kebab shop was badly damaged by a fire on Saturday afternoon. It is understood the blaze started in the kitchen of the Istanbul takeaway on Methilhaven Road at about 2.30pm.
One member of staff was treated by ambulance staff for smoke inhalation.
The fire service finally stood down from a blaze at an Inverkeithing scrapyard on Saturday morning.
Appliances left the premises of Robertson Metals, off Ferryhill Road, at 10am, having been there since 5.30am on Friday. A police spokesman said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
