Back in his adopted home of Kirkcaldy, Nepali asylum seeker Kishor Dangol is appealing to locals to help his fight to stay in the UK.
The 48-year-old was meeting his lawyer today and hopes the Court of Session will hear his case next month.
A petition will back Mr Dangol’s campaign to stay in Fife, where he has lived for 12 years.
He arrived in Kirkcaldy on Monday evening after being bailed from Dungavel immigration removal centre, having narrowly escaped deportation.
Kirkcaldy MSP David Torrance backed Mr Dangol’s forthcoming petition and said his community work would boost his case.
He said, “I’ll be going around with the petition trying to get as many signatures as possible for Kishor, particularly in the Linktown area, where he’s done a lot of work.
“This is someone who has integrated into the community very well and has given up his time to volunteer in the community for years. He’s put in so much effort to be part of the community.”
