A St Andrews property with “probably the finest view in golf” has gone on the market.
The three-bedroom flat, which is on the market at offers over £1.75 million, overlooks the first fairway and 18th green of the Old Course.
From its bay window, the new owners of 14 The Links will have a panoramic view of the hallowed greens.
The house was bought for just over £5000 by the grandparents of current owner Dotty Kennedy in the 1950s. Mrs Kennedy’s own parents, Binks and Muriel Forster, also were to retire there two decades later.
Now it has been put on the market by Strutt & Parker.
The estate agents said the apartment’s “enviable position” gives a grandstand view of everyday play and international championships alike at the home of golf.
Last year a house in The Links became the most expensive property per square foot ever sold in Scotland. It is believed an American businessman paid over the £3.75 million asking price for the three-storey house built in 1854.
At around £1350 per sq ft, the house was on a par with those in the millionaires’ paradise of Monaco or properties in prime London locations.
