A leading authority on global terrorism and political violence was remembered at a ceremony in Fife.
Professor Emeritus Paul Wilkinson, who came to St Andrews University in 1989 to take up the first chair in international relations, was laid to rest following a funeral service in his home town of Crail.
Co-founder of the university’s centre for the study of terrorism, Mr Wilkinson passed away last week at the age of 74.
A familiar face around the world as a respected commentator on the scourge of political violence, he made an enormous contribution to the study of terrorism.
Described by friends and colleagues as “an inspiration,” he was not only an eminent academic, but also a prolific author.
