The Burntisland and District Pipe Band played a new tune written especially for the occasion by Pipe Major Jock Mair as they made their way across. The event had been organised in a bid to raise the band’s profile and attract new members. Burntisland and District Pipe Band is one of Scotland’s oldest civilian bands, dating back to 1923. Members hope the event will have helped to ensure a bright future by attracting the attention of potential new members ”from all ages and profiles”.
