A man was killed and three other people injured in crashes on Fife’s roads at the weekend.
A one-vehicle crash on the outskirts of Cupar which claimed the life of a 40-year-old driver was one of three accidents across the region in just over 24 hours.
The man, named today as Gary Falconer, of Coaltown of Wemyss, died of his injuries at the scene of the crash at Clushford Toll crossroads at around 10.15am on Saturday.
His 13-year-old step-daughter, who was a passenger in the blue BMW, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee before being released.
It is thought both were thrown from the vehicle after the impact and the teenager was described as very lucky.
The road was closed for some time while officers investigated. Police have appealed for witnesses.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man remains in a very serious condition in hospital after an accident in Glenrothes on Friday night.
The victim was walking on the A92 between Preston Roundabout and Cadham at around 7.20pm when he was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Focus which was travelling south.
The pedestrian was rushed from the scene near the Tullis Russell papermaking plant by ambulance to Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.
However, his condition was so serious he was later transferred to the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.
Police said he had sustained a serious head injury and gave his condition as potentially life threatening.
The third accident occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday, when a 4X4 vehicle left the road ending up on its roof.
The male driver of the vehicle sustained a broken shoulder and was described as walking wounded following the crash on the A92 at the New Inn Roundabout.
Fife Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances to the scene to find the man had already been released from the car.
However, they stabilised the vehicle and helped give first aid before an ambulance arrived.
The man was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital and later released.
Anyone who witnessed any of the accidents or who saw the BMW or the injured pedestrian beforehand is asked to contact Fife Constabulary on 08456 005 702.
