A bowl of porridge large enough to feed 2000 people is expected to create a stir at Cupar Highland Games next month.
Cupar Round Table and Quaker Oats will attempt to break the world record for the largest bowl of porridge ever made.
Around 80 kilograms of Scott’s Porage Oats, which are made by the Cupar firm, will be mixed with water pumped into a huge specially-made steel pot by firefighters from the town.
It is thought it will take two to three hours to heat the mixture well.
With a Guinness World Record adjudicator on hand on the day, organisers are confident that the massive breakfast which they hope to tip the scales at 500 kilograms will make it straight into the record books.
A forklift truck will load the huge bowl, measuring 1.5 metres in height and width, on to a trailer from Netherton Tractors, to transport it for weighing.
Cupar Round Table chairman Craig Manson and past chairman Gavin Howie had the idea as a way of attracting new visitors to the highland games on July 4.
Mr Manson said, “Cupar has had a fair bit of bad press lately because of shops shutting down and other things so we are doing this to raise community spirit.
“We also want to people to get involved with Cupar Round Table, which raises £11,000 to £12,000 each year which we give to community projects and charities.”
