A teenage motorcyclist was one of two people taken to hospital following two separate road accidents in north-east Fife on Sunday evening.
The 19-year-old man was injured after losing control of his motorbike and coming to rest in a field on the A917 road at Boarhills shortly after 4.20pm.
Firefighters from St Andrews attended and administered first aid at the scene before the man was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for further treatment.
Police said the rider was ”conscious and breathing” but was suffering from chest pains, prompting the trip to hospital for observation.
The fire crew stayed behind to clear petrol away from the road before it was reopened a short time later.
That was followed by a further accident on the B940/B9131 St Andrews to Anstruther road at around 6.10pm, when a Mini and a Jaguar collided.
The female driver of the Mini had to be released from the wreckage of her vehicle but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
It is understood she suffered whiplash injuries and was also taken to Ninewells.
A fire crew from St Andrews were called out to assist, although they were mainly involved in making the vehicles safe.
