A Fife girl who has been battling cancer led out the teams at Sunday’s SPL clash between Dundee United and Celtic at Tannadice.
Summer Wroniecki (3) and her brother Brody (6), from Cupar, became mascots for the day.
Summer was diagnosed with a tumour in September and has undergone a series of operations plus chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She is now in remission.
Her father Chris, an electrical fitter with ScottishPower, described the family’s first reaction when she was diagnosed.
He said: ”She was in the best health when we saw a wee lump appearing. We thought it was a pile.
”We were told to come back in a month but we eventually took her to A&E. We just didn’t think it would be wrong.
”Two or three days later they cut it off. She’s in remission and you touch every little bit of wood that you can.”
Brody has been very supportive throughout his sister’s extensive treatment and both children have been nominated for the Little Heroes Awards this Friday.
”Yesterday they were away getting presents from Hamley’s for the awards and they met the Celtic team in the hotel. Scott Brown and Neil Lennon were really nice,” Chris added.
