Gordon Brown MP encouraged youngsters to make the most of the summer holidays when he dropped into a youth festival being held at Kirkcaldy’s Beveridge Park.
The summer sparkler event was organised by Kirkcaldy Area Youth Strategy Group with the aim of introducing teenagers to healthy activities such as music or sport.
Mr Brown met young people and members of some of the local organisations involved.
He said, “I am delighted to be along here to help promote this summer programme of fun and positive activities for young people in the Kirkcaldy area.
“I want to thank all the organisations and individuals involved in putting so many activities together that will ensure that young people are able to try out so many different things over their summer holidays.
“This programme is a credit to all those who work with and support children and young people and I look forward to visiting more of the activities in the coming weeks and to speaking to young people to hear what they think.”
Activities on offer during the event, which ran on Monday and yesterday, ranged from sport to dance and music, as well as opportunities to find out about learning and volunteering.
Youth strategy chairwoman Liz Easton said, “We are pleased that Gordon Brown agreed to join us to promote the summer programme.
“There is a whole range of activities for young people and we believe something for everyone.”
