Pittencrieff Primary School reopens after bug outbreak

A bug-hit primary school has reopened following a deep clean.
Pittencrieff Primary in Dunfermline was closed last week after a number of pupils developed symptoms of the winter vomiting bug norovirus.
A specialist machine with a spray was used to sanitise each room to ensure the bug was eradicated.
Parents and carers have been reminded to keep children who are still feeling poorly or showing signs of the bug to stay at home for 48 hours from the last bout of sickness.
Headteacher Julie Journeaux said: ”After last week’s deep clean it’s good to be open as normal and welcome all the children back to their class work and preparations for their nativity.”
She added that while some children were still off sick, the school was approaching more normal levels of absence.
Norovirus affects people of all ages and is easily transmitted from person to person.
There is no specific treatment, but it is important to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
