THE RAF Typhoon Display Team have presented the RAF Benevolent Fund with a cheque for more than £5,000, which they raised while supporting a busy flying programme over the course of this year.
RAF Leuchars’ 6 Squadron mounted the Royal Air Force Typhoon display this year, providing the pilot and ground support team in addition to their primary Quick Reaction Alert mission.
This year was the first time the display role had been accomplished by a front-line Typhoon squadron.
The money was raised through collections and sales of merchandise plus the auctioning of a flying suit and a number of prints.
Typhoon display manager, Flight Lieutenant Glen Malaney, said: “This year we were delighted to support the RAF Benevolent Fund.
“Over the summer, we have attended 22 events, displaying 34 times and the display seemed to capture the public’s imagination, and nowhere has this been demonstrated more than the very generous donations we have received. I would like to thank the public for their kind support.’’
On receiving the cheque, RAF Benevolent Fund director Scotland Bob Kemp added: “In thanking the Typhoon display team for this wonderful donation, I would like to acknowledge all the help and support we get from the men and women in uniform throughout the year.”
