GlaxoSmithKline pledges to work with council after wind turbines refusal

Pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is looking to continue its dialogue with Angus planners after the rejection of major wind energy proposals.
Developments standards councillors rejected plans for a pair of turbines at the firm’s Cobden Street plant this week on the grounds of the impact they would have on the landscape, skyline and environment of Montrose.
The scheme was designed to make the facility carbon neutral and to help make the factory sustainable in the future.
A GSK spokesman has moved to quell concerns over the future of the site, however, adding that talks with the council will continue until a solution is found.
”It’s fair to say that we are disappointed by the committee’s decision but it didn’t come totally as a surprise because of the report recommending it for refusal,” the spokesman said.
”We will wait to see the council’s report findings in two to three weeks then we will consider our position in light of that report.”
