A former Angus care home has been stripped by thieves.
Mundamalla House in Coupar Angus Road, Newtyle, was targeted last week and the hunt is under way to trace those responsible for removing what police say is a significant amount of property.
A spokesman said the building was hit between Sunday, March 6, and last Friday. Detectives are not ruling out the possibility that the premises may even have been visited a number of times by the thieves.
Full details of the items taken have not been released, but a large number of fixtures and fittings were among the haul.
Mundamalla is known to have many period features including fireplaces and natural timbers as well as an impressive central stairway and it is believed original items are among the property taken.
“Because of the nature of the items stolen it is believed that more than one person was involved and that a vehicle was used to transport the items,” said the spokesman.
“Any such vehicle would have had to remain at the care home for some time, or possibly returned on a number of occasions.”
The property has been on the market with a price tag of offers over £895,000.
