Police guarded a house in Ballumbie after a suspicious car fire in the early hours of Monday morning.
Five Police Scotland units and a Scottish Fire and Rescue appliance rushed to the address at around 3am after a fire broke out on a car sitting in a driveway on the outskirts of Dundee.
Neighbour George Greig, 64, said: “We were woken up by a lot of noise, and the fire crew was putting fire blankets on the car to put it out.
“Most of the damage was to the passenger side. The bonnet was flipped up, so I assume the fire was in the engine.”
The car was hidden by a crime scene tent, and guarded by a police officer.
Mr Greig said: “The police had dogs out searching around, and they seemed to be searching the pavement for something.”
A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland, along with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended at an address in the Ballumbie area of Dundee at 3.30am this morning (Monday 23 June) after reports of a car on fire.”
Police appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact 101.
