Computer breakdown leaves Abertay students stranded

Abertay University students have been left hacked off by computer problems.
Student drives on the university’s system suffered a “major corruption”, which stopped students being able to access saved work.
The meltdown lasted for three days, creating a “nightmare” for students who were stranded without access to key files.
One student, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “This was a nightmare for the students. One had over 45 GB of work that she couldn’t access for her honours project.”
The problems, which began last Wednesday, were resolved by Friday evening.
An Abertay university spokesperson said: “We can confirm that all student drives were affected by a major disk corruption from Wednesday to Friday, with services completely restored on Friday evening.
“We are thoroughly investigating what caused the problem, which was local to the university and not the result of any malware or a malicious attack.”
