A Facebook troll who told the father of a missing Glenrothes man that he had killed his son was jailed today.
However, Stewart McInroy (23) will be released from prison within weeks after receiving a 10-month sentence for sending sick online messages to the family and friends of Allan Bryant Jnr.
The sentence was backdated to his remand in custody back in April, meaning that he will be out by October due to early release rules.
McInroy had used a Facebook page set up by the Bryant family to send messages claiming that he had taken Allan Jnr hostage.
Allan’s father, Allan Snr, described the incident as “sick” and hit out at the backdating of the sentence.
“I would have accepted ten months but it should never have been backdated,” he said.
