A Facebook troll who told the father of a missing Glenrothes man he had killed his son says he deserved a harsher jail sentence for his “stupid” act.
Stewart McInroy, 23, was released from prison just a fortnight after receiving a 10-month sentence in August for sending sick online messages to the family and friends of Allan Bryant Jnr.
He was jailed after telling Allan’s dad he had killed his son.
However, in an exclusive interview with The Courier amid fury he has been gloating about his freedom, McInroy said he was “shocked” he got such a lenient sentence.
He said he was remorseful and expressed hope the family would find closure as the first anniversary of Allan’s disappearance approaches on Monday.
However, he said he was annoyed by claims over the past few days he has been gloating on the eve of the first anniversary of Allan Bryant’s disappearance.
In recent days, supporters of the Bryant family have expressed outrage at a Facebook post by McInroy to a friend which stated: “If you get sheriff mongol your lucky coz I was expecting three years but got 10 month for the internet trolling lol.”
Mr McInroy told The Courier the comments, while regrettable, had been taken out of context.
