The dark nights will be a little brighter in Perth thanks to the solar-powered illumination of the Broxden Grouse statue.
The statue, installed in the centre of the Broxden roundabout during the summer, greets thousands of motorists to the Fair City every day. Until now, it could only be seen in daylight hours.
However, the 49ft sculpture is now lit by solar power. The system uses less power than is needed to light an old-style 100 watt bulb. Activated by darkness, the lights turn on at sunset and go off at 2am.
The 1.5-tonne galvanised steel grouse was gifted to the people of Perthshire by The Edrington Group, owners of The Famous Grouse, to mark Perth 800 the 800th anniversary of Perth becoming a Royal Burgh.
