The 38th Glenfarg Folk Feast, which will feature well-known musician and singer Dougie MacLean, begins today with a host of artists taking part.
The festival’s ‘hub’ will be Backstage at the Green Hotel in Kinross, where most of the main events will take place.
Dougie MacLean, who rose to fame through the well-known song ‘Caledonia,’ will feature on Sunday, when there will also be performances by Winter Wilson and Roberto and the Tickety Two.
A ceilidh will kick-off proceedings tonight at the Windlestrae Hotel in Kinross, when the doors will open at 7.30pm, with the music starting at 8pm.
Yesterday, a spokesperson for the Glenfarg Folk Club told The Courier: “The main features of the event are a welcoming ceilidh on the Friday with the Orwell Ceilidh Band, with two wonderful concerts on the other weekend evenings. The Saturday concert line-up consists of the Emily Smith Duo, Maurice Dickson, Shona Donaldson and Paul Anderson, and the Farg Folk.
“Emily won the Scots Singer of the year award in both 2008 and 2014 and is joined for the concert by her multi-instrumentalist husband, Jamie McClennan.”
He continued: “As well as the internationally renowned Dougie MacLean, the Sunday concert features Winter Wilson, and Roberto and the Tickety Two a brilliant and varied night’s entertainment. Also throughout the weekend, visitors will find many other attractions including a children’s concert on the Sunday with Artie Trezise, sing-arounds, a fun song competition and the 31st world puff-a-box championship.
“The club committee are delighted to be holding the Feast in Kinross and are looking forward to welcoming everyone for what should be a great weekend of entertainment, fun and fantastic music.”
In addition, the Glenfarg Folk Feast will include a guitar workshop.
Tickets cost £18 for Saturday and £22 for Sunday.
A weekend ticket covering the ceilidh and both main concerts costs £45.
