Perth brewer helps create perfect recipe for Celtic Beer Festival
ByRichard Burdge
The founder of the Inveralmond Brewery in Perth was invited to collaborate with the cream of Celtic ale-makers on the creation of a new beer.
Representatives from five Celtic cultures travelled to the Cornish St Austell Brewery after head brewer Roger Ryman asked for their help in creating the Celtic Collaboration beer to celebrate the shared identity of the different regions.
Inveralmond’s Fergus Clark provided Scotland’s contribution to the brew, which was launched at this year’s Celtic Beer Festival in St Austell, which raises money for charity.
Each of the brewers added regional ingredients to flavour the beer. Fergus took Scottish rowan berries, Ireland added shamrock, Brittany provided wild garlic, and Wales offered apples, while the home area, Cornwall, added saffron to the mix.
