Warning after fire in rubbish left outside Perth flats

Fire chiefs have issued a warning after discarded rubbish sparked a house fire in Perth.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of a house fire at a two-storey block in Stanley Crescent, Muirton, on Saturday night.
The call was received at 8.50pm and two fire engines from Perth station attended. Crews found a large amount of rubbish and wheelie bins on fire against the rear of the building.
Crew manager Lewis Duncan said: “If items are left near doors then escape routes can be blocked.
“There is no doubt the fire escalated due to the fact combustible materials had been stored to the rear of the block. This practice is something we actively discourage.
“This fire had the potential to be even more serious given the amount of combustible material there was against the building.”
