Man taken to hospital after fire at Blair Athol Distillery

A man has been taken to hospital following an fire at one of Scotland’s best known distilleries.
What’s described as a “vapour explosion” emanating from a 30,000 gallon alcohol tank caused a small blaze at the Blair Athol Distillery in Pitlochry at around 4pm.
The flames were swiftly extinguished by staff before the arrival of crews from Scottish Fire and Rescue.
The casualty is not believed to have been seriously injured.
Bosses at the distillery one of the oldest working in Scotland were unavailable for comment.
Such explosions are described as “infrequent” by the Health and Safety Executive.
