A man has been arrested in connection with the ‘suspicious’ death of a woman in Bridge of Earn area.
Police were called to an incident in Horsemill Place, Muirmont, at around 1.30pm on Friday.
Officers took a 56-year-old man into custody in connection with the death of a 27-year-old female.
He is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday.
Speaking on Friday night, a police spokesman said: “Police Scotland is investigating the death of an adult female at an address in Bridge of Earn, Perthshire.
“The death is being treated as suspicious.”
There was a heavy police presence in the quiet cul-de-sac which lies in the shadow of the M90 on Friday.
One resident said: “It’s shocking.
Nothing like that happens in a place like this it’s very quiet round here, we’ve never had any bother.”
Another man, who asked not to be named, said: “This is a pretty quiet area mostly young families and older folk.
“There’s an old folks’ home about 40 yards from where this has happened.
“It is a massive shock we’ve never seen anything like this in this area,” he added.
