Perthshire teenager attacked pupil after subjecting him to homophobic abuse on Facebook

A Blairgowrie High School pupil subjected another pupil to homophobic abuse on Facebook before attacking him at school the next day.
Stewart Ramsay, 17, pleaded guilty to kicking and punching his victim on the head and body, to his injury, during the attack at the school on March 21 last year.
He also admitted that the day before he had sent Facebook messages to the same boy that were homophobic in nature and also threatened him with violence.
Addressing Ramsay at Perth Sheriff Court, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “This wasn’t a school fight that blew out of proportion.
“It was patently obvious from your Facebook messages that these were threats made to the victim telling him what you were going to do.
“If you start kicking someone in the head, then you have no control over what injuries they may sustain,” the sheriff added.
Ramsay, of Strathmore Avenue, Coupar Angus, was ordered to complete 200 hours’ unpaid work, undergo supervision for six months and undertake drug treatment.
