Police chiefs have assured residents their plans to cover this summer’s T in the Park are well under way.
The force has come under pressure to reveal its strategy for the event after Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Liz Smith said issues like policing needed to be examined in full as part of the planning process.
Commenting on the latest proposals, Ms Smith said: “In November it was suggested that there would be no plans for walking routes between Auchterarder and the Strathallan Estate it now appears that there will be a walking route and therefore concerns are not surprisingly being raised about traffic management and policing.”
Superintendent Colin Brown of Police Scotland’s event, emergency and resilience planning department, said: “Along with a wide range of partners, Police Scotland has supported DF Concerts in the successful delivery of T in the Park for many years.
“As consideration of the planning application submitted by DF Concerts for this year’s event progresses, we will work hard to develop plans to ensure the needs of all those involved are met.”
A spokeswoman for organisers DF Concerts added: “It’s of vital importance to us that we work closely with our experienced multi-agency team which includes Police Scotland to deliver a high-quality, well-organised, safe event with minimal disruption to the local area.”
