A theatre group which has challenged itself to bring opera to a wider, younger audience will be returning to Perthshire with its new show next week.
Opera Bohemia will be treading the boards at Birnam Arts Centre with its much-anticipated production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.
Members of the company were keen to return to the venue after they received a memorable reception from an appreciative audience for their last production, Madame Butterfly.
One of the goals of the group is to try to introduce opera to a new audience and younger generation.
A spokeswoman said: “Lots of the Opera Bohemia audience across Scotland are opera newbies who have loved the experience.
“The company hopes to tempt people to give opera a try with their production of Gianni Schicchi.”
She said the show was the perfect “first time experience” for opera virgins.
“It’s just one hour long, is great fun and is filled with beautiful melodies,” she explained.
The curtain will rise at Birnam Arts Centre on Thursday February 12.
