He said he had been “sickened” by the attack and felt the cow which suffered extensive facial injuries was fortunate to have survived.
“The cow made a rapid recovery with a little TLC and has produced a healthy bull calf,” said Mr Harris, who farms near Pitlochry.
The dog involved was destroyed following the incident and at the time Mr Harris called for a clampdown on the rehoming of abandoned Staffordshire bull terriers to people who may not understand the dangers.
“They are so unpredictable these dogs,” he said.
“What they have taken on is someone else’s problem, something should be done about these dogs being recycled into the community.
“Anyone who has kids and has that kind of dog, they should keep them restrained, they should be muzzled.”
