Catwalk dinner lady serves up a treat

She may be more used to strutting her stuff on the catwalks of New York and Milan, but Miss Scotland put her glamorous lifestyle firmly on the backburner as she took up the post of dinner lady at a Perthshire school.

Katharine Brown served up steak pie to star-struck youngsters at Blackford Primary as she promoted a new healthy eating poster.

She may have reached the pinnacle of her modelling career but, Miss Scotland or not, Katharine was still subjected to a critical maternal eye during her stint at the cooker.

Mother Marlyn McAloon is head teacher at the school and was at pains to ensure her daughter did not step out of line.

However, mum had little to worry about as Katharine effortlessly slipped into the unfamiliar role.

It was quite a contrast for the globe-trotting star just a few days ago she was wowing the international media in a stunning tartan dress on the catwalk during Scotland Week in New York.

Despite donning the traditionally more dowdy gear favoured by the nation’s dinner ladies, Miss Scotland effortlessly brought some welcome sparkle to school dinners.

Katharine joined regular school cook Barbara Nicolson to serve steak pie, vegetables and potatoes to delighted pupils on what was their first day back following the Easter break.

Unsurprisingly, second helpings were very much in demand.

The model has been working with Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) to produce a healthy eating poster which was launched at the school.
