A Perth mental health organisation was visited by Tourette’s sufferer and BBC documentary subject John Davidson.
John starred in the 1989 documentary John’s Not Mad, which showed him as a 15-year-old in Galashiels and examined how his family and community coped with his condition.
A follow up, The Boy Can’t Help It, was aired by the BBC in 2002, catching up with John at 30 to see how he continued to deal with having Tourette’s.
A 20th anniversary version, Tourettes: I Swear I Can’t Help It, was broadcast in 2009.
During a visit to Perth’s Mindspace Recovery College, John gave a talk about his experiences with the condition and described how he deals with daily challenges.
Mindspace is delivered by people with personal and professional experience of mental ill health.
