A year’s hard work is about to come to fruition for the volunteers behind Perth’s official Bonfire Night display.
This year’s event will have live music and cheerleaders added to the bill. Taking place on the South Inch, it will be staged on November 5 and is run by Perth Strathearn 200 Round Table.
Thousands of people attend every year and their donations are distributed to good causes in and around Perth by the Round Table, who helped by businesses and other supporters take on the work needed to make it a success every year.
Fireworks convener Alan McFadden said, “Round Table has been running this event for more than 30 years, but we plan to make 2010’s bonfire night the biggest and best Perth has ever seen.
“We have a spectacular display by the award-winning Edinburgh company 21cc Fireworks, plus music from local rock band The Windows, a performance by cheerleaders, plus other attractions.”
Volunteers will spend the day before building the bonfire, made of pallets donated by businesses. Enough material has already been arranged, so no more wood can be accepted.
The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks are to start at 7.30pm. For more information about Round Table, or to make a donation, visit perthroundtable.co.uk or the Facebook page.
