Frothing tankards of ale, rousing music, food and fun all featured as a taste of Bavaria’s famous Oktoberfest came to the Fair City.
Almost two dozen beers were available as a traditional German festival with a distinctly Scottish twist was held at The Lovat Hotel.
“Some of the country’s top brewers signed up for this inaugural event,” said organiser Graham Dewar. “We had around 20 different ales from eight of Scotland’s top breweries and microbreweries, which really appealed to those who appreciate their beer.
“Oktoberfest in Germany is about a lot more than beer, though, and while having to stage the event indoors we wanted to create some of the atmosphere, fun and festivities of the occasion.”
There was entertainment throughout, with local comedian Bruce Fummey, the Gumbo New Orleans Jazz Band, the best of Perthshire’s buskers and the Kolonel Schnapps Oompah Band.
“We wanted to create something a bit different for the Perth 800 celebrations,” Mr Dewar said. “We hope to develop the Oktoberfest idea in future years.”
