Declining membership forces Perth Memorial Club to shut doors for last time

Another local institution will be consigned to the history books when Perth Memorial Club closes its doors for the last time today.
The George Street premises, formerly the Royal British Legion Club, once had 1500 ex-service members, but that total has declined dramatically in recent years.
During the severe winter weather, the club was taking in only £20 a day and it was decided at a recent meeting it was no longer viable to keep it open.
It has been placed on the open market for £200,000, with the remaining members to decide what to do with the sale proceeds.
