Inveralmond Business Centre a positive sign after blow of Woods the Printers closure

Almost a year after it was closed down, new life has been breathed into the former premises of Woods the Printers in Perth.

The vacant building on Auld Bond Road has been taken over to create the Inveralmond Business Centre, providing a base for smaller companies.

Algo of Blairgowrie purchased the unit last month, adding to a portfolio that already includes its flagship business centre on Glenearn Road.

Algo Business Centre, built by sister company Algo Design and Build, operates a serviced business centre at Glenearn Road, but demand from tenants for more space has encouraged the family firm to look for a new site to complement the existing one.

Founded 26 years ago by Blairgowrie farmer Peter Alexander and wife Pat, Algo initially built farm buildings and cold stores. It has since developed into many different types of buildings, from distillery warehouses to office blocks.

Construction remains the core activity today, but the Alexanders’ son Murray and wife Pauline were quick to capitalise on the opportunity after successfully developing the Algo Business Centre in 2004, which has been fully let since it opened.

Mrs Alexander said, “We have 47 tenants in 18,000 square feet at the Algo Business Centre but, due to demand, we were looking for more office space.

“The Woods building, situated behind SSE, is perfect and it gives our clients the opportunity to have a base at the opposite side of town with great road links from the A9.”

Inveralmond Business Centre boasts 8000 square feet of office accommodation as well as 18,000 square feet of warehousing and a 4500 square feet dispatch warehouse.

Existing tenants of Algo Business Centre were the catalyst for the expansion.

“They needed more office space than we could offer at Glenearn Road,” said Mrs Alexander. “They will take up 3500 square feet of the ground floor at Inveralmond, freeing up four office suites at Glenearn Road.”For more information visit www.inveralmondbusinesscentre.co.uk
