A Perth man who bombarded his former partner with more than 400 nuisance phonecalls in the space of a few hours has been jailed for nine months.
Roy Wightman (40), of South Inch Terrace, threatened to assault the woman with a knife before leaving his phone on redial to call her again and again on October 16.
The harassment began the previous day when he stared through the windows of her Perthshire home.
He appeared for sentencing at Perth Sheriff Court, where he also admitted causing an accident by driving dangerously on the Dunkeld Bridge on August 29 last year.
He was almost four times the alcohol limit and overtook at excessive speed on a blind summit before colliding with another vehicle.
Solicitor Billy Somerville said his client had problems with alcohol.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: ”Your calls would undoubtedly have been a nuisance to this women and the cause of some alarm.”
