Fire crews battled to cut a stricken casualty free from the wreckage of a car after it was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A93 Perth to Blairgowrie road.
Another occupant was reportedly thrown from the vehicle following the crash on the notorious bend at Meikleour beech hedge, near Kinclaven, shortly before 9pm on Monday.
The emergency services, including the Tayside Trauma Team, raced to the scene after reports that two young people had been badly injured.
A total of four fire appliances were despatched, including an engine and the heavy rescue unit from Perth and two engines from Blairgowrie.
Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove one casualty from the car.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed two males and two females had been involved in the incident. Of the group, two were described as ”walking wounded”, one as moderately injured and one was said to be in a serious condition.
All were placed on spinal boards and rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
The police closed the road in both directions to allow accident investigation work to take place. The road remained closed into this morning.
Tayside Fire and Rescue remained at the location until after midnight to ensure the damaged vehicles were safely removed.
Witnesses described seeing the engine of the smaller vehicle on the grass verge apparently torn from the car in the accident.
