Police in Perth say they are not treating a fire that damaged part of the roof of a petrol station as suspicious.
A section of Edinburgh Road was cordoned off on Sunday after the fire which broke out around 4.30pm in roof space of the Esso petrol station, near Tesco.
Thick black smoke billowed as firefighters tackled the fire. Supply to the petrol pumps was isolated and Tayside Police cordoned off Edinburgh Road from Glenearn Road to the Tesco roundabout.
The petrol station was closed for a period early on Monday, with tape blocking the entrance and exit of the premises. It reopened at 10am.
Tayside Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire and, as such, officers would not be making inquiries into the matter.
An Esso spokeswoman said staff had all followed correct procedures in the wake of the fire.
She said: ”Staff on-site followed our emergency response procedures and were evacuated safely with no injuries. The fire services immediately responded and brought the fire under control.”
She added: ”At this time, the cause of this incident has not yet been determined and an investigation is ongoing. While we manage our business with the goal of preventing incidents, our staff are trained to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies should they occur.”
