A rescue operation was launched at a Perthshire beauty spot after a dog fell 50ft down a ravine.
Despite the best efforts of Tayside Fire and Rescue there was no sign of the year-old labrador at Rumbling Bridge, near Dunkeld.
The pet belonged to visitors from Armadale in West Lothian, who contacted the emergency services at 10.30am on Monday.
”A couple were out walking their two dogs when the year-old dog jumped up and over the bridge parapet and fell over the side,” said Perth station manager Graham Smart.
The first crew to arrive was the local Dunkeld unit, who were able to see the dog ”scrabbling around”.
The firefighters remained at the scene for several hours but eventually abandoned the search for the dog.
Fears were that it was injured in the fall and swept futher down the River Braan, which was swollen due to recent heavy rain.
Mr Smart appealed to dog owners to ensure their pets are under their control at all times.
