Driving on the busy M90 at rush hour while ”significantly impaired” through drugs led to a man being fined £1,250.
Perth Sheriff Court heard Thomas Murray (44), of Montgomery Road, Kinross, had left the motorway near Milnathort and police then detected a ”strong smell” of cannabis on both his and his passenger’s breath.
A blood sample later taken from the accused established a quantity of amphetamine.
Depute fiscal Carol Whyte told the court that police received information that Murray’s car had left the motorway near Milnathort around 5.35pm.
”When leaving the car police noticed the pair were unsteady on their feet and their speech was slurred,” she said.
Murray admitted that on December 9 last year, on the M90 Perth to Inverkeithing motorway near to the Milnathort junction, he was unfit to drive through drink or drugs.
Sentencing Murray, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told him his driving would have been ”significantly impaired” and, in addition to the fine, banned him from driving for three years.
