PH postcode has best mail delivery record in the UK

Mail delivery in Perthshire is first class, new figures have revealed.

The PH postcode is the top performing area in the UK, with 97% of next day post arriving on time, far more than the minimum standards set by the Royal Mail, which expects at least 91.5% of first class deliveries to make it to their destination the day after posting.

Eight of Scotland’s regulated postcode areas smashed the targets, though Perth was streets ahead of its nearest rival, Edinburgh, which recorded a performance of 96.3%.

The figures were recorded between April and June this year and come as the Royal Mail continues its major modernisation programme.

New technology and better equipment is being deployed progressively nationwide and the working practices of postmen and women are changing.

Quality and service integrity director Linda Shields praised the effort of local posties.

She said: ”We are extremely pleased that we are delivering a high quality service for our customers.

”It’s down to our local postmen and women, out on their routes six days a week, who are determined to deliver the best possible service.”
