Thieves warned drugs stolen in Perth could be harmful

Thieves have been warned not to take the potentially dangerous medication they swiped from a chemist counter in Perth.
Police warned that the syringes of Fragmin, which stop blood clotting, could be harmful if taken by the wrong person or in the wrong quantity.
The 15 syringes of the medicine, used by angina and thrombosis sufferers, had been placed on the shop counter by the owner at around 10.10am on Thursday and were quickly taken.
Police in Perth are now investigating the theft and have appealed for witnesses to come forward or the medicine to be handed back.
A spokesman said: ”In appealing for information to assist officers with inquiries, Tayside Police would also warn of the dangers of using medication that belongs to another person.
”One of the effects of Fragmin is that it prevents the formation of blood clots. Clearly, any medication can be dangerous if taken by someone other than the person it is prescribed to and if taken in unprescribed quantities.
”Anyone who has any information that could lead to the recovery of this medication can call police on 0300 111 2222.”
