Perth and Kinross has scooped an award for promoting responsible dog ownership.
The local council took second prize in the Kennel Club’s Good Citizen Dog Training Scheme at a recent awards ceremony for a range of initiatives.
Judges were particularly impressed by the Green Dog Walkers campaign, which encourages owners to pick up their dog’s mess and provides free dog bags in shops and vets’ surgeries.
Additionally, the council was recognised for its active promotion of the Kennel Club’s Safe and Sound scheme, visiting 72 of the 77 primary schools in the area, and its excellent success rate rehoming strays within seven days.
Kennel Club chairman Ronnie Irving said, “The winners have all done marvellous work in promoting responsible dog ownership in their local community and all deserve a huge vote of thanks.
“We are grateful for their enthusiasm and dedication, and offer our appreciation for helping us make a positive difference.”
