Detectives investigating an armed robbery at a Perthshire supermarket a fortnight ago have released CCTV images in a bid to identify a man who was in the store at the time.
The Co-op in Scone was robbed of a sum of cash by a man in his 20s at about 9.50pm on Thursday March 15.
No one was injured in the incident, although the staff involved were said to be ”traumatised” by the frightening theft.
The ”hook-nosed” robber threatened the women employees, aged 42 and 43, with a knife after bursting into the Perth Road store.
He grabbed a woman employee over a freezer before making off with a three-figure sum. There were no customers in the shop at the time.
Officers want trace a man who was in the store at the time and who can be seen in the image above.
He was wearing a blue and black checked jacket with the hood up, dark jeans and blue or purple shoes.
The robbery left people in the small community shocked, unused as they are to violent crime.
A description of a suspect was quickly issued by police who said he was around 28. As well as having a ”distinctively large hooked nose”, he was unshaven and spoke with a deep Scottish accent.
He was about 5ft 8in, medium build, with light brown hair.
Specialist police tracker dogs were called in for the immediate search, while motorists were stopped on their way through the village and in the Bridgend area of Perth.
Anyone who knows who the man on the CCTV image is, or who has information that could assist inquiries can call Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
The robbery was the second of a Co-op store in the Perth area this year.
A thief who stole a three-figure sum from the West Mains Avenue supermarket in Perth on January 22 has still not been traced.
