A Perthshire woman who was dubbed Supergran after tackling a car thief has celebrated her 90th birthday. Jessie Buick had her bravery in assisting the police recognised by the Sir James Duncan Medal Trust. It was at the age of 68 that Mrs Buick helped a female police officer in Perth as she tracked down an escaping car thief. Modest about her efforts, which were reported in The Courier at the time, she said: “I would hope everybody else would do the same thing.” Now a resident at Balhousie Coupar Angus Care Home, a party with birthday cake, presents and music was laid on. Her family were taking her out to a local restaurant where they were to present her with a framed picture of her achievements.
