Farm machinery catches fire near Pitcairn Primary School

Firefighters were called to Almondbank this afternoon after a piece of farm machinery burst into flames.

The blaze set alight bushes, stubble and straw in a large field to the rear of Pitcairn Primary School.

Three appliances were sent to the scene after a farmer contacted Tayside Fire and Rescue shortly after noon.

Hosereels and beaters were used to swiftly extinguish the fire, with farm staff on hand to offer assistance.

Perth and Kinross Council said there had been no impact upon the nearby school.
