Perth’s rich history will form the backdrop to an unusual event this weekend the city’s first paranormal festival.
“Scottish history and mythology go hand in hand, from our ancestors telling stories of fairies around campfires to modern ghost-hunting on television,” explained organiser Lynne Knight, of History and Horror Tours.
“This weekend of events aims to explore these subjects in a way unique to Perth a city steeped in history and legend.”
Different elements of the festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be spread across the city and, in the run-up to the festival, locals and visitors will have the chance to share their own experiences through the Haunted Hub at the former library in West Mill Street, where there will be displays based on Perth’s history.
The weekend features Ghostbusters movie-themed events, ghost hunts, storytelling, crafts and Halloween costume and horror make-up workshops.
There will also be tours, talks, meet-the-author events and the Spirit of Perth Paranormal Fayre in the Mercure City Mills Hotel.
The fair will feature fortune tellers and card readings from mediums and paranormal investigators.
The brave can join guests, including Barry Fitzgerald of SyFy’s Ghost Hunters International fame, as they lead an investigation into one of Perth’s historic buildings or take part in a mystery ghost hunting tour.
For those of a more delicate disposition, there will be a night of entertainment at the Mercure City Mills Hotel featuring a three-course meal followed by a performance by magician Paul Nardini.
