A new church has opened in Perth with the promise of providing a “community of people” who have found love, peace and healing.
Oasis Church Perth will now operate on the site of the former United Free Church in Kinnoull Street and they celebrated having a permanent home on Saturday.
The Perth branch of the church started in 2010 and has been meeting in rented rooms around the city.
Robert Duncan, pastor of Oasis Church Perth, said: “We are part of a worldwide family of churches called Partners in Harvest (PIH). There are more than 10,000 PIH churches but only three in Scotland.
“We have been meeting in rented rooms till now but in June this year we moved into the old United Free Church at Kinnoull Street. This gives us a permanent base or home as a church.
“The service on Saturday was a celebration of us starting a new phase as a church.”
At Saturday’s opening, Provost Liz Grant unveiled two paintings specially created for Perth Oasis by artists John Halvorsen and Dave Smith.
