A Celtic supporter caught with more than £1,000-worth of cocaine at a St Johnstone match told stewards he was carrying “sweeties”.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Sean Ewing had travelled to the city by coach for the Boxing Day clash.
When asked by security staff at McDiarmid Park about the contents of a yellow plastic container, he replied “sweeties”.
In fact it contained seven wraps of cocaine, with a street value of £975, and police also found a bag containing a further £50-worth of the class A drug.
Defence solicitor Billy Somerville said the bag was intended for Ewing’s use and the additional wraps were for friends.
Ewing had earlier admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine at McDiarmid Park on December 26 last year, and also of being in possession of the drug.
Sheriff Valerie Johnston ordered Ewing, 25, of Barrowfield Place, Glasgow, to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.
