A new television campaign featuring Blairgowrie berry pickers will kick off Visit Scotland’s Year of Food campaign.
The advert features a number of iconic images of Scotland such as the Isle of Rum, Eilean Donan Castle and the Ring of Brodgar, as well as berry-picking in Perthshire, seafood from North Berwick and the Speyside Whisky Festival.
The Year of Food and Drink aims to raising awareness of Scotland’s restaurants, hotels, food and drink producers, B&Bs, cafes and visitor attractions and will be shown across the whole of the UK.
Mid Scotland and Fife MSP is delighted to see Perthshire featuring so prominently in the advert and hopes it will succeed on a variety of levels.
“Perthshire berry farmers have endured some tough years recently and hopefully this advert will give the industry a shot in the arm and the UK-wide recognition it deserves,” he said.
“Scotland boasts some of the UK’s best produce and hopefully this campaign will attract foodies and visitors to Blairgowrie from across the country.
“With visitors to Scotland spending around a fifth of their travel money on food and drink it is extremely important that we promote “grown in Scotland”.”
The advert, voiced by Neil Oliver, invites all visitors to Scotland to discover their “brilliant moment”.
