Alexis Rose Fund snowballs to top £100,000

A fund dedicated to the memory of a tragic Perth toddler has topped £100,000 less than four years after being formed.

The Alexis Rose Fund is named after the daughter of fundraiser Alan Glynn. She died in 2011 at the age of 19 months after contracting meningitis.

Initially Alan and his wife Ruth intended to raise £5,000 for charities committed to eradicating the disease but the fund has since snowballed.

Alan has organised a host of events, including discos and football matches, as well as running a number of long-distance races.

His next project is the Alexis Rose 10K trail race in Perth, with medals and T-shirts designed by pupils at local schools.

Alan said: “There’s been a lot of fun and good times. I’ve loved all my runs and even the abseil I did off the Forth Bridge. I want to do a skydive.

“Most of all I value the connection I make with people. Through all our events and everyone’s input and ideas, it has brought so many people together.

“It’s great to know that we are making a difference for the better.”
